How is this different from typical bar trivia?

The biggest difference is, of course, the fact that it’s online, and from the comfort of your own home. But going beyond that, the biggest difference is the emphasis on group interaction and engagement. We curate our questions with the goal in mind to encourage as much collaboration (within your group) as possible to highlight the strength of the group, not the individual.

 

How many players can play at a time?

TTO can easily accommodate groups as small as 4 to as big as 100 in a single session.

 

Why not larger groups?

The value of this experience is the ability to interact and engage with the people you’re playing with. If you’ve ever been on a video or phone conference call with large numbers everyone ultimately has to be muted and the interaction within the group is minimal. The real value of TTO is the ability to engage, have fun, and be active participants in the entire experience, start to finish.

 

How long does the game last?

The experience is scheduled to last roughly 60 minutes but might run slightly longer depending on the timeliness of responses and ongoing conversations. The timing can be adjusted upon request.

 

My group had a great time, can we play again?

Of course! We have curated dozens of completely unique versions of trivia and are actively writing new questions/content all the time. You'll never see the same question twice. We love repeat business and would love to have you and your group back as often as you like!

 

What do I (and my group members) need to play?

The game is played via Zoom, so all you need is a basic Zoom account (which is free). If you’re in the same room with someone you’re playing with (like a spouse or roommate) you will play on the same account/screen.

 

How do questions get asked & answered?

We read the question aloud to everyone in the main room twice. We will then open the breakout rooms (you’ll see a prompt and select “join breakout room ___”), you and your team will go discuss your answer(s). You’ll have roughly 70 seconds for each question, with additional time for the multi part questions.

We’ll close the rooms and you can either return to the main room manually or wait until the timer expires and you’ll be sent back to the main room automatically. At that point, your teams “caller” will submit their answers directly to me via the built in chat function, which is very simple. We’ll record everyone’s responses, read the answer allowed, and offer up any additional information needed (ex. who got it right, partial credit, etc.)

 

How do we keep score?

We track all the scoring and will share the scoreboard periodically throughout the game. You don’t have to do anything except sit back and enjoy!

How much does the service cost?

The fee depends on how many team members actually make it on the call, not how many we think may or may not show up. The way that works is we bill you for the intitial deposit ($500.00 USD, which covers your first 25 players) and then we bill you again as needed if your group goes over 25.

For groups 25 players or less = $500.00

For groups 26-50 players = $500.00 + $20 for each player over the 25 total

For groups 51-100 players = $1,000.00 + $10 for each player over the 50 total

Service Agreement for Trivia Throwdown Online

Services Provided

Trivia Throwdown Online agrees to provide a virtual trivia event on the agreed-upon date and time via Zoom. The specifics of the event, including duration and theme, etc. will be outlined in a separate communication.

 

Payment and Deposits

To secure the event, the client agrees to pay a deposit at least 8 days before the event, ideally at the time of booking. The total fee for the event will be with the deposit applied to the total, which the client will settle after the event if necessary.

 

Refund Policy  

The deposit is fully refundable if the client cancels the event at least 8 days before the scheduled date. If the event is cancelled or postponed 7 days or less before the scheduled date, the deposit becomes nonrefundable.

 

Rescheduling

In the event the client needs to reschedule, they must provide notice at least 8 days before the original scheduled event. Trivia Throwdown Online will do its best to accommodate the new date and time, subject to availability.
